
The Adult Education Program provides classes at no cost to the student on-site at the College campuses, local one-stop career centers, day reporting centers, partnerships with K-12 schools, and correctional facilities. The Shelton State Community College Adult Education Program provides services to Bibb and Tuscaloosa counties. Individualized instruction and testing can also be helpful for students who want to brush up on their skills in preparation for ACCUPLACER, GED, and WorkKeys® testing. The test allows our instructors to identify the skills in which each learner needs to focus. A diagnostic test evaluates the adult learner’s reading, language, and math skills. Classrooms are equipped with computers and programs designed to help learners prepare for the GED, a National Career Readiness Certificate, and/or a career pathway. Go to Adult Education Enrollment to get enrolled in your free adult education class at Shelton State. Adult education classes are offered morning, afternoon, night, virtual, online, and hybrid learning to prepare for the GED, co-enroll in a Career Pathway course, earn a Workplace Success credential to obtain a CDL permit, Northstar Digital Literacy Certificates, increase English language proficiency, and/or complete a non-traditional high school diploma.
