Postbreeding, this species may occur anywhere in eastern Oregon, particularly at Malheur Lake and reservoirs east of the Cascades. The bird with the largest wingspan is the wandering albatross, whose wings can measure up to 3.5 meters, or over 11 feet. Designed by the recluse Howard Hughes, it had a massive 322-foot wingspan. Other eastern locations in spring and summer (non-breeding sites) include near Prineville, Crook County Hermiston, Umatilla County La Grande, Union County Richland, Baker County and Vale and Jordan Valley, Malheur County. the largest ying boat ever built with the longest wingspan of any aircraft. It is locally common to abundant March through October in Klamath, Lake and Harney counties.
